NBI

Need an NBI clearance?

A National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance is a police clearance issued by the Government of the Philippines. The process to obtain an NBI clearance is different depending on your individual circumstance and whether you have previously held an NBI clearance before. You will need to book an appointment with us to discuss and complete an NBI application. To begin the process of obtaining a NBI clearance, and receive the necessary forms, make an enquiry with us. If travel to Hobart is not possible, we can also arrange to complete an NBI application remotely.

What to bring to NBI appointments:

Please bring the following items to your appointment:

1. 1 photo (2”x2” in white background, taken within three (3) months prior to NBI application (you can have one of these taken at an Australia Post post office – just ask for a passport photo);
2. A copy of your passport (we can assist with this);
3. A copy of other identification card/s (driver’s license or ACR-Alien Certificate);
4. Fee of $45 per person payable to the Philippine Consulate by cheque, credit/debit card (preferred).

After your appointment, you will be required to present to a police station to have your fingerprints taken. We will provide instructions on how to do this and the required forms.

Once the fingerprinting has been completed, you will need to do the following:

  1. Register your NBI application by visiting https://clearance.nbi.gov.ph/

  2. Gather all the document bundle completed by the Consulate (This includes the Certified Documents & Completed NBI Clearance Form)

  3. Send above items via Australia Post or DHL to:

    Sandra P Sobida

    Mailed Clearance Section

    National Bureau of Investigation

    Taft Avenue

    Ermita, Manila 1000 PHILIPPINES

You will be required to include in the package a self-addressed envelope so the NBI centre can return your NBI clearance to you. Make sure to keep the tracking number.

It can take up to two weeks for the NBI to receive your application. Once they receive your package, processing time is usually less than 5 days. If submitting your documents through a relative, a letter of authorisation is also required – talk to us about how to complete this.
